Calling Conveyancing Solicitors

Experienced Conveyancing Solicitors, are you ready to step into a conveyancing leadership role?

Hutchinson & Buchanan are looking for an experienced, qualified Conveyancing Solicitor to join our Residential Conveyancing team. You’re dedicated to providing exceptional service, ensuring smooth and efficient property sales and purchases.

You should have a minimum of 5 years previous experience, post-qualification. Ideally, you’ll be confident in managing a small conveyancing team. However, we’re open to perhaps a younger, less experienced solicitor to grow into that role, reporting directly to our two partners. If you have experience dealing with private client work too, that would be a bonus.

Company Overview
Hutchinson & Buchanan is the oldest and most well respected family owned and run law firm in Ripon. We provide legal services to a large and varied client base and pride ourselves on the quality of the legal service we offer.

Based in the heart of Ripon in a Grade II listed building, our thriving high street practice comprises two partners, two associate solicitors and a dedicated legal and administration support team that keeps our work flowing. We have deep connections with the community and deliver exceptional service to all of our clients.

Our legal practice has origins that can be traced back to the 18th century. Managing partner, Andrew Hutchinson, is the fourth generation of Hutchinson at the firm and has been here for 30-years. Our other partner, Richard Storey, is about to celebrate his 20th anniversary at H&B. Many of our staff have had long careers with us, and our cashier recently retired after 50-years of service. So we’re obviously doing something right.

We recently upgraded our IT systems, company branding and website, and are launching new marketing and social campaigns.

About Ripon
Ripon is a great lifestyle city choice for professionals and families who appreciate traditional values and a good work/life balance. It’s the third-smallest city in England and the smallest in Yorkshire, by population.

The city is at the meeting point of three rivers: the Laver, the Skell (which feeds water into the basin of Ripon Canal) and the Ure. It is located 11 miles (18 km) south-west of Thirsk, 16 miles (26 km) south of Northallerton and 12 miles (19 km) north of Harrogate.

We have a rich 1,300 year history, making it an international tourist destination with a wealth of attractions and experiences, including:

  • Ripon Cathedral and its tiny chapel which is the oldest surviving Anglo-Saxon crypt in England
  • the UNESCO World Heritage Site, which consists of the Studley Royal Park and Fountains Abbey (within walking distance of our offices)
  • Whitby, Yorkshire Dales National Park, North Pennines, North York Moors National Park and Ulster Water (all within an hour’s drive)
  • many atmospheric streets with both historic and modern pubs, restaurants, cafés, and a bustling retail scene
  • weekly farmers’ market and a monthly artisan’s market.

Life feels more relaxed in this welcoming, safe and family-friendly environment. You can easily get involved with the community or do your own thing.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a great attitude. If you’re tired of the rat race and long commutes, Ripon could be your ideal next home.

I have no hesitation in recommending H&B to others. Every aspect of the service they have provided has been first class, not simply in the execution of a recent transaction, but also in the informal consultation and advice that has been offered on a broader range of legal issues.
